Mr. Stevens is a transactions and litigation attorney who has represented private companies and individuals in a variety of business, real estate, individual/family estate planning and business succession. When litigating, he brings a savvy business perspective and a strategic focus mindful of the client's business and economic objectives. When transacting deals for clients, he brings recognition and understanding of transactional strategies for minimizing future litigation risks. He has advised clients on business formation, governance, operations, commercial and residential real estate acquisition, real estate development and financing, intellectual property and licensing, commercial financing, contracts, employee matters and regulatory issues. As special outside counsel, he has assisted two Fortune 500 companies on regulatory compliance. Currently, he serves as outside general counsel to a food manufacturer, technology company, university alumni association and non-profit entities. He has also represented a clothing and design firm, retailers, construction/development companies and professional athletes' business matters. He also advises many clients on their individual legal, business succession and estate matters. He has advised and represented other attorneys on business matters and disputes. Mr. Stevens taught business law courses for the University of Phoenix undergraduate business and MBA programs between 1999 and 2008. He also taught extended education classes in business law and entrepreneurship for the California State Universities at Fullerton and Northridge.
Other client assignments include raising capital, devising licensing arrangements, planning corporate expansion and creating and protecting branding strategies. He has also managed complex, multi-party business litigation, class action defense and legal strategy implementation. He has litigated commercial banking, business dissolution, copyright, trademark, trade secret, unfair competition, regulatory, real estate broker liability and a variety of breach of contract matters.
Mr. Stevens earned his B.A. degree from University of California, Irvine, a M.A. in Urban Planning from UCLA and his J.D. degree from the Loyola Law School, Los Angeles. He is licensed to practice law in California and Washington. He is a member of the California State Bar's business and real property sections, and the Washington State Bar's Business Law, Corporate Counsel, Intellectual Property, Labor and Employment Law and Real Property Probate and Trusts sections. He is also a member of the King County Bar Association (WA), Orange County Bar Association (CA) and Urban Land Institute.
